Liam and Sophie whose eggs were stolen along with money
Laois siblings Liam and Sophie Ellis posed with some special new chicks as they thanked the public for their support.
The pair were invited to visit the LauraLynn children’s charity where they were gifted two chicks.
The siblings, who made national headlines when their honesty box was targeted by callous thieves, took to social media to thank the public and LauraLynn for their support in the wake of the crime.
Living between Durrow and Cullohill, 11 year-old Liam and 10 year-old Sophie sell eggs through their roadside enterprise LS Eggs. The pair donate half their proceeds to the LauraLynn Foundation who have received around €3,000 thanks to their generousity.
However, when their roadside enterprise was targeted by thieves for a fourth time in March, the children decided they had no option but to close their honesty box. The move prompted national headlines and an outpouring of support for the young siblings.
They have since reopened their egg business to a safer location thanks to Oliver Stanley Motors in Durrow, who gave them permission to use their premises as a new base.
Now with their enterprise back up and running Liam and Sophie took to social media to say thanks:
“We would like to thank everyone for their lovely messages of support after reopening our egg box,” they said.
“We are very grateful to the lovely staff at @lauralynnhospice for inviting us to visit last week. It was amazing to see all the incredible work they do and we were thrilled to be given two beautiful chicks to take home.
Laura & Lynn,” they added.
