Laois Chamber Alliance has been shortlisted for the Chambers Ireland Awards 2022 in the 'Event of the Year' category for Shine in Emo.

The annual Chamber Awards seek to recognise the outstanding work of the Chamber network around the country. The Awards are a chance for local and county Chambers to showcase their achievements across a variety of categories, from innovative projects to successful events, as well as creative collaborations between companies, local authorities and more.

The Chamber Awards will take place on 1st June.

Following on from last year's event, Shine in Emo returns to Emo Court and Parklands on Saturday, May 27 hosted by Laois Chamber Alliance in collaboration with Emo GAA.

This year’s event will again see amateur teams taking part in a fun range of sporting events, vying to win the title of Ireland’s Fittest Team, with a total prize fund of €10,000 up for grabs on the day.

Last year’s event attracted thousands of visitors to the historic venue in the shadows of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. There was great excitement as people cheered on the sporting teams in action, with live music on the day and lots to see and do with a range of exhibitors showcasing their goods and services around the main arena.

The trade show style event is also returning this year, with the 2022 event attracting over 120 exhibitors representing Laois businesses, from food producers and crafts, to professional services and retailers.

President of Laois Chamber Alliance, Yvonne McKeon, said, “Last summer’s inaugural Shine festival was a tremendous success, and Laois Chamber Alliance are delighted to again be participating partners.  Shine is an opportunity to have a day out for all the family, and to delight in all that Laois has to offer.

Exhibitors showcase a wide range of offerings, with the centre piece being  the Ireland’s Fittest Team competition. It’s Laois, and You’re Welcome!”

Chairperson of the Organising Committee, John Strong, said: “Shine 2023 is probably one of the best days out that a family will have in Laois this year. The day will be packed with entertainment while also giving you the opportunity to witness first hand the excellent products and services that Laois companies have to offer. We are delighted to have Finline Furniture back on board as our main sponsor and thanks to Finline Furniture and all of our sponsors with their help. We are delighted to announce that entry to attend the event is completely FREE!”

Shine in Emo is a family friendly event, with something for everyone, including delicious food stalls, an opportunity to shop with local retailers and meet local businesses, as well as amusements for children.

This year teams can enter our sports event on behalf of their business, college, school or club. It’s an event that will bring the best of team spirit out in your group.
