A Mountrath business is playing its part in a big fundraiser that aims to help people with Down Syndrome find jobs.

MACE Mountrath is hosting the in-store static cycle event at the end of July whereby customers can donate 15 minutes to 1 hour of their time to cycle and contribute much-needed funds to Down Syndrome Ireland, MACE’s charity partner.

The team at the Mountrath shop invited their customers will get involved.

“We hope you will support us and Down Syndrome Ireland by joining in on the Tour de MACE excitement at MACE Mountrath,” said retailer Dermot Mulhall.

“We want to encourage as many of our customers to join in, so if you’re in the area, we would be very grateful if you pop into the store, to participate or donate and support this wonderful charity,” he said.

Money raised by MACE in Mountrath and elsewhere around Ireland, will be directed towards Down Syndrome Ireland’s Skills Academy, which is a programme dedicated solely to helping prepare adults with Down syndrome for the workplace and will go a long way in providing practical experience and training and supporting adults with Down syndrome in fulfilling their potential.

Down Syndrome Ireland is MACE’s official charity partner and customers to get involved with the Mountrath event. Barry Sheridan is CEO.

“DSI strives to ensure equitable access to employment through our National Employment Programme – the specialist training and work placements provided by the Skills Academy will be vital in enabling those with Down syndrome, traditionally under-represented in the workforce, to acquire skills needed to engage in meaningful and rewarding work, fulfil their potential and lead full and independent lives,”

Sales Director Keith Crawford said MACE is very proud of all the MACE retailers who will be hosting these events.

“Each Tour de MACE event will help make a real and lasting difference to people with Down syndrome and their families throughout Ireland. We are thrilled with the enthusiasm being shown in helping raise funds for our charity partner.”

The Mountrath Tour de MACE event takes place at on Thursday, July 27 from 10am to 3pm. The public can come along at any time during the day to help out.
