Action is needed at a Rosenallis bridge due to the deterioration of signs and road markings.

So insisted Cllr Seamus McDonald, who raised the issue at a recent meeting with Laois County Council.

He tabled a motion calling for new signs and markings at Ballyclar Bridge due to a number of accidents.

Cllr McDonald said signs had been erected a number of years back following accidents. He said they work but the problem has returned.

“Now the signs are in disarray and so are the road markings,” he said.

Edmond Kenny, District Engineer, replied in writing to the motion. He said an official from the council would meet the elected representative at this location to establish issues of concern and identify safety improvement works.

The issue was raised at the recent Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Mountmellick Municipal District meeting.
