Almost 600 private rented properties inspected in Laois this year

Cost of rent in Louth increases by 4.9 percent

Laois County Council inspected almost 600 private rented properties in the first six months of the year. 

The figures were revealed in the council's monthly management report for July.  

The council is responsible, through inspection, for determining if a property meets the standards for rental accommodation in accordance with the Housing (Standards for Rented Houses) Regulations 2019. 

This year it intends to inspect 874 privately rented properties in the county.

To date council staff have inspected 574 properties and issued 476 notices of work.
