Mystical and magical promised at Portlaoise exhibition

heritage week

Fionn Mac Cumhaill & Hounds

What's described as a showcase of magical and mystical art opens in Portlaoise during Heritage Week in Laois.

Greg Hallahan is a mixed media artist from Kildare who focuses on the magical and mystical prehistoric monuments.

"Looking at our ancestors’ prehistoric structures that dot our green isle, such as ringforts, dolmens, and stone circles, for Greg, gives hope, strength and power. These structures act as a portal to our ancestors through these “technologies” but also act as a gateway to our relatives that had to leave Ireland for one reason or another throughout the centuries," said an invited to the exhibition.

The exhibition is open to the public at the Dunamaise Arts Centre from 1pm on Thursday, August 17.

The work can also be viewed from Tuesday to Saturday 1pm - 5pm (and 1 hour before all events).
