Section of Laois road to close for two weeks

Flooding closes Tipperary roads

A section of the N78 will close for two weeks starting from the end of September.

Laois County Council said it intends to temporarily close the section of the N78 between the junction of the N78 and R431  and N78 and R430 at Crettyard from September 25 to October 6 inclusive.

The council said the road closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of a cattle underpass.

“Diversions will be clearly signposted. A map indicating the routes to be closed and the alternative routes will be available for inspection at www.laois.ie and Áras an Chontae, Portlaoise,” the council stated.

Anyone wishing to object to the proposed road closure can do so by email to roadsadmin@laoiscoco.ie, or in writing to the Administrative Officer, Roads Section, Laois County Council, Áras an Chontae, James Fintan Lalor Avenue, Portlaoise by 4pm on Tuesday, September 12.
