A Laois animal welfare charity is looking to home a dog which suffered “unimaginable pain” in recent weeks.

Laois SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) shared images of the deep wounds suffered by the dog on their social media page.

“Just over a week ago, we got a call about this dog who had an injury to his neck and had strayed into someone’s yard. The dog received veterinary attention immediately after he was collected by our dog coordinator,” Laois SPCA stated.

“Bailing twine had been used instead of a collar and was embedded in the dog's neck. The pain this dog must have suffered is unimaginable,” they said.

"Despite all the cruelty, Bowie, as we named him, is a gorgeous dog. Once his wounds have healed and his vet work is completed, we will be looking for a 5 star home for Bowie,” Laois SPCA stated.
