A parking bay for people with disabilities at Mountmellick’s Catholic Church is to be relocated.

Laois County Council’s intention to make the move was confirmed to Cllr Paddy Bracken, Fianna Fáil, at a recent meeting in Portlaoise.

He tabled a motion for the bay at St Joseph's Church on Sarsfield St to be moved to make it more user-friendly.

Edmond Kenny, District Engineer replied in writing.

“The relocation of the disabled parking bay is approved. Works to the footpath to facilitate vulnerable road users will be undertaken in the coming weeks,” he said.

The new location of the bay was not confirmed.

Cllr Bracken welcomed the reply given at the November meeting of the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal. District.
