A protest in Portlaoise in 2021 against attacks by Israel on Palestine
A Walk for Peace will be held in Portlaoise this weekend which will include speakers from Palestine and poetry readings.
The event, on Saturday, March 9, is being organised by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC).
Those attending will gather at 1.30pm at Portlaoise Leisure Centre and walk down Main Street at 1.45pm. The organisers say flags and donations to IPSC are welcome. They have liaised with local gardaí in relation to the event and its implications for traffic.
Independent Cllr Aisling Moran said the Walk for Peace was open to all.
"Everyone is invited to join the Walk for Peace this Saturday, March 9th," she said.
There will be tea, coffee, speakers from Palestine, poetry by Laura Murphy and music from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
A Portlaoise peace march was called off earlier in the Israel - Hamas war after the riots in Dublin.
