Modern facilties in Carlow campus which has proven popular with Laois students over many years
South East Technological University (SETU) is inviting students from Laois and elsewhere to its upcoming annual Spring Open Day at its Kilkenny Road Campus in Carlow.
The college says the event showcases the University’s undergraduate, postgraduate, and part-time courses, and demonstrates the best of student life at SETU.
SETU says, the Spring Open Day at the campus which attracts many Laois students, highlights the range of courses developed by SETU’s experts in academia and industry. The university says it is an opportunity for future students to experience state-of-the-art educational facilities and learn more about what area of study they would like to explore.
With the CAO Change of Mind facility now open, SETU says it is a key time for prospective students to visit the campus in Carlow (formerly Carlow IT) and speak with lecturers, course leaders, and student support staff.
It says staff can guide you on detailed course content, work placements, internships, and career opportunities; as well as answer your questions on areas of student life such as accommodation, admissions, and sport. A statement said is also an opportunity to explore SETU’s growing, campus in Carlow, with guided campus tours taking place throughout the event.
Some interesting courses to look out for include SETU’s Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Content Creation and Social Media. SETU says this course focuses on content creation and harnessing the power of social media, preparing students for media careers in the worlds of business, campaigning, sales, marketing, and influencing. The University says it has a longstanding tradition of excellence in sports coaching and rehabilitation. It says courses such as the BA in Sports Management and Coaching with specialities in Gaelic games, rugby, or football, as well as the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Sports Rehabilitation and Athletic Therapy, are excellent options for those who want to combine their love of sport with academic study.
In industry-linked areas of computing and software development, SETU offers its BSc in Interactive Digital Art and Design and the BSc in Computer Games Programming among other cutting-edge courses with a proven track record of producing best-in-class and industry-ready graduates sought after in the tech field.
Unique to SETU’s campus in Carlow is the Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Aerospace Engineering that gives students access to an evolving fleet of aircraft at its Centre for Aerospace Engineering.
Additional courses such as the B.Eng. in Biomedical Electronics gives students the knowledge and skills to progress into the MedTech sector, while specialist courses available at SETU’s campus in Wexford offer forward-thinking opportunities for those interested in agriculture and agribusiness. The BSc in Sustainable Farm Management and Agribusiness is open for applications alongside the BSc in Organic Agriculture, complementing the University’s existing suite of specialty land and food science programmes.
