A new Parkrun is being set up in Portlaoise by Laois Sports Partnership with an information event being held next month for those interested in joining,
Parkruns are free weekly timed 5k events open to all abilities held in local green spaces and managed by community volunteers.
There are already over 110 parkruns in Ireland with over 12,000 people weekly participating. You can run, walk, volunteer, push a buggy, or walk the dog.
"We would like to start a parkrun in Togher Woods (Portlaoise) and we are holding an information evening on Monday, June 10 at 7.30pm in the Midlands Park Hotel (The Brittas Suite)," said Laois Sports Partnership.
"Please spread the word and come along. If you would like to help out to get this initiative started but can't make the meeting, drop us an email to csdo@laoissports.ie."
