Portlaoise has a new county councillor after Tommy Mulligan was returned to represent the town for the next five years at the Laois County Council local election count in Portlaoise.
The independent candidate was returned to serve in the Portlaoise Municipal District on the twelfth count following the elimination of fellow independent Pauline Madigan. .
Tommy Mulligan's surplus of 183 will be distributed.
