A dog found at the famous Catholes in the Slieve Bloom Mountains is in the care of the Laois Dog Warden at the county pound after a local resident took it into care.
A resident of the area who contacted the Leinster Express / Laois Live said an abandoned dog was left tied to the green railings at the Catholes Tuesday, night, October 22 at 9 pm.
The resident believes the dog is a Mastiff pup and is about a six-months-old.
The animal was described as being in good health, very quiet and friendly, but not microchipped and reluctant to go into the residents' home. More below picture.
The dog was left by the occupant of a car which was seen driving slowly in the area that night.
The pup is now in the care of the Laois Pound after being brought there by the resident who discovered in on Friday, October 25.
