The Vale Graiguecullen
Laois County Council has been asked to install parking bays in an estate in Graiguecullen.
Independent Cllr Ben Brennan requested the bays in a motion at a recent council meeting.
He asked “that Laois County Council install parking bays in The Vale housing estate, Graiguecullen.”
Cllr Brennan said the bays were “badly, badly needed,” because “so many vehicles, they are all parked on the road” in the estate.
He said the parking is causing issues around wheelchair access. “They park up on the grass and the whole lot,” Cllr Brennan said.
According to Cllr Brennan, there is ample space to put additional parking in the estate.
Fianna Fail Cllr Padraig Fleming seconded the motion and said parking was a “major difficulty” in the estate.
In response, Senior Executive Engineer, Philip McVeigh, said: “Laois County Council will arrange to meet with the Elected Member on site to review this issue.”
The issue was discussed at the October meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
