A Laois TD is beginning the project of leading Dáil committee set up to improve the delivery of costly big public projects like the national children's hospital by meeting some of the top civil servants responsible for spending oversight of public money.
Seán Fleming is the chair of the new Joint Committee on Infrastructure and National Development Plan Delivery, which meets on Wednesday, May 21 to discuss the steps involved from concept to commissioning of large-scale capital projects.
The Fianna Fáil TD spoke ahead of the first meeting in Leinster House in a statement to the Leinster Express / Laois Live.
"The meeting will allow the Committee to commence its work on analysing the flow of just how large-scale capital projects go from being initiated all the way to completion. We look forward to discussing the intricacies of the steps involved with representatives from the Department of Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform. MORE BELOW PICTURE.
“We will look to those attending tomorrow to detail how progress is measured in real-time on these projects. We will welcome their observations as to what more can be implemented to achieve timely delivery of major capital projects,” said the Castletown based TD.
