Funeral details announced for teen who tragically drowned in Carlow

Funeral details have been announced for a teenager who tragically drowned in Carlow on Tuesday. 

17-year-old Peter Byrne of 126 Dolmen Gardens, Carlow, passed away suddenly after a tragic accident, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. He had been swimming in the River Barrow at Cloghristick, Milford when tragedy struck. 

His funeral details were released earlier today. 

They read: ”Beloved son of Antoinette and Stephen and step-son of Dermot, much loved brother of Margaret, Kellie-Anna, Erin, Scott and his twin brother Quintan and adored grandson of Anne and Peter and step grandson of P.J

He will be sadly missed by his loving parents, step-father, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and friends. May Peter’s Gentle Soul Rest in Peace

Reposing at his home, 126 Dolmen Gardens, Carlow (Eircode R93 K535) from 1pm on Sunday, June 22nd, concluding with Prayers at 8pm that evening. Removal from there on Monday at 9.15am to The Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow, arriving for Funeral Mass at 10am. Burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow.
