Laois community invited to first cemetery  mass in 100 years

A special mass will be held in Kilcronan Cemetery, Ballinakill on Friday, July 4, the first mass held in the cemetery in 100 years. Parish Priest Fr Paddy Byrne will say mass at 8pm and the local community is invited to attend.

Speaking to the Leinster Express/Laois Live oragniser Patrick McDonnell explained that this is an important site for the community with people having been buried there since the mid-17th century. The last person to be buried in the cemetery was in 1992. He encouraged people to attend the mass on Friday evening.
