Mary Street, Durrow.
Durrow Community Council has arranged a second public meeting in relation to plans for two IPAS centres in the village.
It follows a public meeting opposing the planned developments at Peader’s Bar and Lennon’s Bar on Mary Street which attracted up to 300 people last Monday night.
The owner of the bar has applied for planning permission from Laois County Council to convert the bars into accommodation for asylum seekers.
The latest Public Information Meeting was called to provide residents with information packs containing details of the contentious planning applications, a guide to filling out submissions, information on the payment process and printed submissions which people can fill out.
Organisers plan to set up tables where volunteers will be handing out information packs and answering questions.

The previous meeting was told the deadline for submissions in relation to the International Protection Accommodation Service(IPAS) applications is August 13. A protest committee was established at the meeting with a view to assisting with the campaign of opposition to the plans.
The event takes place in the Castle Arms Hotel from 7pm to 9pm on Monday, July 28.
