Laois County Council to consider taking estate in charge on Monday

Consideration is to be given to taking an estate in charge at an upcoming meeting of Laois Council Council.

Independent Cllr Aidan Mullins asked in a motion “that Laois County Council update on the taking in charge of Killenard Lodge estate.”

He said it was a small estate with just 28 homes. “The estate is finished and one of the better constructed estates in the area,” he told a meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.

In response to his motion, a written statement from the Planning and Roads Department said: “This Taken in Charge request has been advertised and is listed for the upcoming Council Meeting on September 29th 2025.”

Cllr Mullins said he was glad the matter had progressed. He said the process takes a long time.
