A Councillor said a van driver regularly drives through a Laois crossroads without stopping even though there are stop signs.
Independent Cllr Aisling Moran said the driver passes through the crossroads on a daily basis and never stops.
She tabled a motion asking: “That Laois County Council in the interest of road safety, look at providing a safety scheme at both Cullenagh and Coolnaugh crossroads”.
Cllr Moran said “I don’t know why people can’t see the signs that we have up on the road but they just drive straight through.” She is worried that there will be an accident if no measures are taken.
In reply to the motion, Senior Executive Engineer, Tom Drennan said “Laois County Council will review and assess these junctions and from there will determine what interventions may be required with regards to road safety.”
The issue was discussed at the latest meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
