Ballacolla Cemetery flooding set to continue

County councillors have urged County hall to take tackle flooding in Ballacolla to tackle flooding at the village cemetery.

Cllr John King raised the the problem that the recent Mounmellick Borris in Ossory Municipal District meeting where he also called for action at Billy Bowe’s house, Boardwell, Clough.

He called for action because of ‘continuous flooding’ at both locations.

He was supported by Cllr James Kelly and Cllr Brendan Phelan. Stan Cullen, area engineer, said options for resolving the flooding at Ballacolla are being progressed. While an unsuccessful application was made in 2018 to address the issue at Bowe’s,

Mr Cullen said efforts to get money for the work would be made in 2019.
