The campaign for a ‘yes’ vote in the May 22 referendum on same-sex civil marriage was launched in Laois last Tuesday May 5, by local group Yes Equality Laois, with the help of a ‘yes Equality’ bus that is touring the country.
Yes Equality Laois spokesperson is David Delaney:
“We are very excited to be launching Yes Equality Laois. We are asking people to get involved, vote yes and share the freedom to marry. The people of Laois have the chance to take part in a once in a generation moment by making their voices heard on May 22 in the Marriage Referendum,” he said.
He reports much support even before the campaign was begun.
“We are already overwhelmed by the level of support in Laois for the campaign and with today’s launch we hope to make more people aware of how important their vote is and they can lend their support over the coming weeks,” he said last Tuesday.
The Yes Equality Bus nationwide tour aims to bring the case for a Yes vote to town squares across the country covering 66 locations in 26 counties over 27 days.
