Walkers should be compelled to wear high vis, says Laois Councillor

A Laois councillor believes walkers should be compelled to wear high visibility vests when out on the roads. 

Cllr John King said “as car owners we have our insurance, nct and tax on our vehicles. I think that pedestrians walking on the roads in towns and villages should be compelled to wear high vis jackets the whole time.”

He  was speaking during a recent meeting of the Laois Joint Policing  Committee.

Cllr King noted a recent tragedy on the roads and said given the darker evenings, pedestrians should take steps to ensure they are visible on roads.
