Councillor wants staff in County Hall Portlaoise to act

Two bridges are in need of urgent repair in Ballaghmore, a councillor has claimed.

Cllr Conor Bergin pleaded for action at a recent meeting with Laois County Council.

He called on the council to carry out “urgent repairs and maintenance” at Lackey Bridge and sought work at Mary Bergin’s bridge, Rossbaun, Ballaghmore as a “matter of urgency”.

He said “great repairs” are being carried out so he hoped the two bridges could be added to the list. He said the bridges are old possible built up to century ago and he wasn’t sure when they would have received attention last.

Edmond Kenny, District Engineer, replied that a bridge inspection will be undertaken to confirm the condition of the structure and the councillor would updated afterwards.
