Laois bridge to be repaired

Laois County Council County Hall in Portlaoise.

Laois County Council will carry out works on a damaged Laois bridge as soon as possible.

Cllr Padraig Fleming urged the council to repair the bridge at the latest Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District meeting.  

He tabled a motion asking: “That Laois County Council inspect the Bridge at Mullaghmore, Wolfhill and carry out repairs to the arches on both sides of the bridge.”

In response, Senior Executive Engineer Philip McVeigh said: “Laois County Council will arrange an inspection of this bridge to scope the works required. We will arrange to carry out repair works as soon as possible.”

Cllr Fleming thanked the engineer and said it was a very positive answer.
