Uisce Éireann has warned that some parts of the county may be impacted up until Friday

Uisce Éireann has warned that areas in Laois could face water supply issues over the next few days.

A reservoir interruption may cause water supply issues in Ballylinan, Ballyadams and the surrounding areas as of this afternoon, July 21.

Uisce Éireann has advised that works are scheduled to take place from 2.30pm on Tuesday, July 21 until 10am on Friday, July 24.

Uisce Éireann is also introducing overnight restrictions for some customers supplied by the Ballyadams Reservoir which is part of the Kyle Water Scheme to safeguard daytime supply.

The restrictions will be in place from 11pm to 7am starting tonight, July 21 and will be in place each evening until further notice.

Uisce Éireann said the restrictions are necessary due to demand outstripping supply at the reservoir.

Uisce Éireann’s James Joyce has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore supply to normal levels.

“We understand the impact of overnight restrictions, but these measures are necessary to ensure continuous daytime supply for homes and businesses while we allow the treated water reservoir levels time to recover.

“Given the increased demand and dry weather, we need to ensure a daytime water supply is available for homes and businesses while we allow treated reservoir levels time to recover overnight. We continue to ask customers to be mindful of their water usage during this time.”

Further water works on Wednesday, July 22 may also cause more disruptions for other parts of the county.

A planned power outage will impact water supply in Drimaterril, Ballinakill and the surrounding areas from 9am until 5pm on Wednesday.

There may also be disruptions in Mountrath on Wednesday due to a planned power outage. Works are scheduled to take place here also from 9am until 5pm.
