A stretch of local road in Laois has "not been done in 30 years" a councillor has claimed.
Part of the road in Ballyroan has been done but all of it needs resurfacing, says Cllr Barry Walsh.
He has asked Laois County Council to add to and continue its resurfacing works at Cloncullane and Upper Crubeen, Ballyroan, in a motion tabled to the September meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District.
"Some has been done this year. It leads to forestry. Locals say it has not been done in 30 years. The whole road needs to be done really. I am delighted that more is to be done next year," he said.
Area engineer Wes Wilkinson said that the road will be examined and considered for resurfacing at part of the 2024 roads programme in Laois.
Cllr John Joe Fennelly seconded the motion.
"It needs to be continued on," he agreed.
