A Laois household will have hope in 2026 that the council will solve a flood problem outside their house caused by a collapsing road.

Cllr Paddy Buggy tabled a motion asking for the works at Pallas Little, to the September meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District.

"What we have here is a situation where the road has subsided to one side. It's the wrong side, it's in front of properties. The rain is lying in front of a house, it's a major problem. We need to raise the road on one side so water flows across. I hope as all the money is spent this year that you'll put it in for next year," he said.

His motion asked for the section on the L6114 road to be added to the 2026 roads plan. It was seconded by Cllr Barry Walsh.

The road will now be considered for inclusion in 2026 by Laois County Council.
