An entrance sign to Portarlington
Residents in an Laois Offaly town have complained that traffic is speeding on their roads, and it is now to be investigated.
The Ballymorris Road and Droughill in Portarlington are the locations where speeding is said to be taking place.
Cllr Aidan Mullins tabled a motion to the November meeting of the Graiguecullen Portarlington Municipal District about the issue.
He requested that the council carry out traffic surveys on both of the roads.
"Residents say that traffic is speeding, and it is at high volumes around Portarlington," he said.
In response, Laois County Council said that they will carry out the surveys in the coming weeks, at both locations.
"Depending on the survey, traffic calming may be needed. It will be interesting to see the results," Cllr Mullins said.
