A crossroads near a luxury golf resort and hotel in Laois is feared to be posing a danger to its visitors, a local councillor has reported.

Hermitage Crossroads is close to Killenard, home to the Heritage Killenard golf resort, hotel and spa.

However painted road markings have faded, causing traffic danger, as alerted to Laois County Council by a local councillor.

Cllr PJ Kelly tabled a motion to the November meeting of Graiguecullen Portarlington Municipal District.

He requests that the council renew and make visible the markings.

"Locals fear accidents happening with hotel and golf users not being familiar with the stop and go system that operates there," Cllr Kelly said.

Laois County Council has agreed to repaint the road markings "as soon as possible", thanked by Cllr Kelly.
