A MAN who allegedly added a ‘like’ to a post on the online social media dating app Tinder was before an in camera family law sitting of Portlaoise District Court last week charged with breaching a safety order on 15 July.

Judge Andrew Cody wanted to know what was the breach, to which the 38-year-old defendant’s solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said: “The alleged breach is that he ‘liked’ a Tinder post.”

Judge Cody wanted to know what Tinder is, to which Mr Fitzgerald began explaining, only for the judge to cut him off and jokingly tell him: “you obviously know.”

Judge Cody remanded the defendant on continuing bail to the 10 December sitting of the court.
