Laois road needs to be widened as it continues to be accident 'black spot'

A dangerous road in Rathdowney needs to be widened as it continues to be a “black spot” for accidents according to Cllr John King.

Cllr King put forward a notice of motion at the recent Mountmellick/Borris-in-Ossory Municipal District meeting.

“Personally, I know that we had an accident with the loss of three lives and a teacher going to the school had an accident a number of weeks ago,” he said.

The road is at Middlemount, Rathdowney which is the main road from Rathdowney to Abbeyleix.

Laois County Council said that it would discuss road design with the Area Engineer and it will be included for safety schemes application.
