Neighbours to a Laois community hospital undergoing a major €35 million extension have been prewarned of noisy construction works.
The contractors who are building the extension at the HSE owned St Vincent's Community Nursing Unit in Mountmellick have given an update of works in a newsletter delivered to local residents.
Duggan Bros say that from July 5 until approximately August 9, they will be carrying out 'pile driving', on 350 concrete piles into the ground for foundation supports of the new 50 bed unit.

They say that the hoarding being erected along the site will be complete and painted by the end of July.
They say that some residents have requested convex mirrors to improve driver vision at the hoarding, and that this will be done once the hoarding is painted.
There will be a Tower Crane erected towards the end of July, after which the company says that the main building concrete works will start.
On July 5, electricity had been cut to some 60 customers all day so that power lines could be diverted for the new building.
It is set to be completed in summer 2025, upgrading accommodation for 50 of the hospital's residents to ensuite bedrooms. It is phase one of a three phase upgrade, to eventually offer 130 ensuite bedrooms.
It will make the Mountmellick community nursing unit one of the biggest and most modern in the Midlands.
