There is deep sadness at the untimely passing of the late Matt Mahon from Mountmellick.
Late of Derryguile and formerly of Walsh Island, Co Offaly, his family announced “with heavy hearts” his sudden passing on September 25.
Husband to his adoring wife and soulmate, Caroline, he was a doting father and best friend to his beautiful children, Clíona, Aoife and Jack.
Predeceased by his father Tom, sister Catherine and brother Pauric. Brother to Anne, Tomás, Siobhán, Marguerite, and Noel. Son to Joan, he is also missed by extended family, friends and neighbours.
“Admired by all who knew him, and loved him, in his sporting community. A friend to all he met, an inspiration to all who he loved,” said hid death notice.
O'Moores Camogie Club extends its deepest sympathies to the Mahon and Delaney family and friends on the “heartbreaking loss”. The club which has players from Mountmellick, Clonaslee, The Rock, Rosenalls, outlined how much he had contributed.
“Since joining our club in 2019, Matt made an incredible impact on everyone he worked with players, coaches, and the wider club community. Matt's dedication, positivity, drive and unwavering support played a vital role in the growth and success of our teams, not forgetting his inspirational pre-game speeches.

“Matt will be greatly missed, especially by all the girls he guided, encouraged, and drove to success over the past number of years. The laughs and love was endless. Matt's legacy will live on in the spirit and heart of our club,” they said.
His remains reposed at home in Derryguile. Funeral Mass in St Joseph’s Church, Mountmellick on Monday morning, followed by burial after in St Joseph’s Cemetery.
