Dan Kearns RIP
Stradbally GAA and the wider community are mourning the loss of Dan Kearns, Corrig, who passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 25, surrounded by his beloved wife and family.
Dan, who was Vice President of Stradbally GAA, gave a lifetime of service to the club and was a much-loved figure in the town. The club's Junior team observed a minute's silence in his memory before Thursday evening's Laois GAA Club Championship semi-final against Ballyroan-Abbey.
Paying tribute, Stradbally GAA said: "It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dan Kearns, Corrig, Vice President of Stradbally GAA. Dan was a true club man who was always there when needed.
"He stewarded every year at TriAthy, helped at matches on the pitch, and was a regular seller of Lotto tickets and the €130 tickets. Quiet but witty, he gave so much of his time and support to the club, and his presence will be deeply missed.
"Above all else, Dan was a devoted family man. His passing leaves a great void in our club and in our community. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends at this sad time."
Dan will be lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret, daughter Ciara, son Damien, grandson Bobby, son-in-law John Paul, sister Breda, brother Pat, sister-in-law Rita, brother-in-law Tom, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.
Reposing at his home on Saturday, September 27 from 12 noon with Recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Sunday, September 28 in the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally at 11:30am and afterwards Dan will be laid to rest in Oakvale Cemetery.
The Mass can be viewed live on the Stradbally Parish Webcam at svtparish.ie/webcam
