Storm Amy has caused a road flood on the N80 road through a Laois town, with a Stop Go system slowing traffic.
The heavy traffic through Mountmellick is delayed this Friday, October 3, as Laois County Fire and Rescue crew attends the flood.
It began flooded the road and paths at Emmet Street on Thursday night, with one concerned resident pictured trying to unblock a drain themselves.

A spokesperson for the Mountmellick fire crew has confirmed to the Leinster Express / Laois Live that a blocked drain was to blame.
The fire crew has been deployed to temporarily bypass the blocked or possibly damaged surface water drainage pipe with a surface pipe along the footpath.
Full drain clearance is expected to be done later today to solve the blockage while Laois County Council say that "further investigations are required".
They arrived on scene at about 10.30am on Friday and expect to end the Stop Go system by 2pm.
It is eight years since multiple rivers burst their banks around Mountmellick, causing a full closure of the N80 road, and evacuations and damage to some 100 properties. The town still awaits flood defences, with the project currently being considered for planning approval by An Coimisiún Pleanála. Read the latest here.
