Man, 40s, dies and woman hospitalised after vehicle overturns in Kerry crash

A man, aged in his 40s, has died following a single-vehicle crash in Co Kerry on Friday night.

The collision occurred at Aulaneduff, Abbeydorney, Co. Kerry at approximately 9.15pm last night.

The male driver, aged in his 40s was fatally injured when the vehicle overturned on the road.

His body remains at the scene and will be removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Kerry where a post mortem will take place in due course.

The female passenger, aged in her 30s, was also injured and removed from the scene by ambulance to University Hospital Kerry where she is being treated for her injuries which are believed to be non-life threatening.

The road at Aulaneduff, Abbeydorney is currently closed pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators which will take place later this morning. Traffic diversions are in place.

Gardaí in Tralee Garda Station are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this collision to contact them.

Any road users who were in the area on Friday evening, December 29 between 9pm and 9.30pm and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
