A man has died after a two-vehicle crash involving a truck in Kildare this morning.
Gardaí are currently at the scene of a fatal two-vehicle crash involving a car and a truck that occurred at Barnhill East, Castledermot Co. Kildare, this morning at around 9.20am.
The driver of the car, a man aged in his 40s, was fatally injured in the crash.
His body has since been removed from the scene to the Mortuary in Naas General Hospital where a post mortem will take place in due course.
The driver of the truck was conveyed to St Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
No other injuries were reported at the time.
The R448 remains closed from Junction 4 of the M9 to Castledermot, with local traffic diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 8.45am and 9.45am this morning, Monday 19th August 2024, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
