Irish tourists in Spain warned amid RED ALERT weather warning and 'extreme risk'
Parts of southern Spain have once again been issued with a severe Red Alert rain and flooding warning just weeks after more than 200 people died during a similar event in Valencia.
The areas of Sun and Guadalhorce - Malaga, Axarquia - Malaga and Tarragona's southern coast have been hit with the highest red alert warning with over 120mm of rain expected on Wednesday.
The regions take in some of the most popular tourist resorts, including Marbella, Fuengirola, Torremolinos and Benalmadena which is hugely popular with Irish holidaymakers searching for winter sun.
Spanish weather service Aemet sounded the alarm over an "extreme risk" and said a DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) moving from France towards Spain will bring up to 150mm of rain in a short period and will impact Spain's weather right through to Friday, November 15.
Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel is also monitoring the situation and took to social media to share an update.

He said: "Severe weather warnings have again been issued for southern and eastern coastal regions in Spain as yet another DANA event is forecast according to the Spanish meteorological agency AEMET.
"Severe thunderstorms with torrential rain, frequent lightning, large hail and strong winds will batter certain coastal areas of the regions of Catalonia, Valencia and Andalusia.
"If you or your loved ones are travelling to the area then please remain up to date with local advice and meteorological warnings. This is once again a developing situation," he concluded.
