A crime boss's luxurious Irish mansion, which was seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau last year, has been sold at auction today for a cut-rate price - despite selling for almost 40% over the guide price.

Known locally as “The White House,” the five-bedroom mansion in Tullyard, Ballymakenny, Drogheda, Co Louth is packed with standout features, including marble floors, an opulent staircase, and even a mural of Al Pacino in Scarface in the home gym.

The 3,000 sq ft property is accessed through electric gates and sits on a generous site. The marble tiling flows through a spacious lounge, dining room and bespoke kitchen with a large central island. One ground-floor bedroom is currently used as a gym.

Upstairs, the master suite includes an en-suite, walk-in wardrobe and balcony, while the family bathroom features baroque-style décor and jack-and-jill showers. The back garden offers a checkerboard patio, an all-weather tennis court and high-end dog kennels for up to six dogs. A large detached garage with an unfinished upper floor and a partially completed outdoor bar and fire pit add even more potential.

The incredible property was seized by CAB in December 2024 from Moldovan gang boss Eduard Chiper and his wife Natalie, who bought it as an unfinished site for €200,000 in 2014 before reportedly spending a whopping €1.2 million doing up the lavish home.

BRG Gibson had listed the home with an Advised Minimum Value (AMV) of €475,000 on Daft.ie ahead of today's auction, but after a flurry of bids, the property sold for almost €175,000 over the guide price. Four bidders battled it out in the auction that lasted just over an hour, with the four placing 110 bids before it eventually sold for €649,000.

Despite selling for over 36% more than the AMV, the winning bidder appears to have bagged themselves a great deal - almost 50% off - given that well over a million euros was spent on the luxurious mansion. The proceeds of the sale will now go to the State.
