When will social welfare payments be made over Christmas including bonus?

With the festive season in full swing, people across Ireland may be wondering whether their social welfare payments will be paid. 

If you receive a weekly social welfare payment, you should receive your payment as normal this week.

An advance payment for next week will also be paid, meaning you should receive double the payment.

Your next payment won't be made until the New Year. 

This applies to payments made at post offices, by cheque, or directly into your bank account.

If you are on a Jobseeker's casual or part-time payment, dockets will need to be provided in advance to ensure your payment continues during the Christmas period. 

Once the dockets are received, Jobseeker's Allowance recipients will get two payments covering this week and next week on Friday, December 19. 

Jobseeker's Benefit recipients will also get two payments for this week and next on Friday, December 19. 

A 100% Christmas bonus should have already been paid to social welfare recipients either in the week of Decmber 1 or December 8. 

Local IntreoCentres will can be contacted from 10am-4pm every day, except for Thursday 25 December, Friday 26 December, and Thursday 1 January.
