Almost €30K raised for funeral of 16-year-old girl who was hit by car that did not stop

A GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for a 16-year-old girl's funeral after she was killed while walking her dog. 

Mia Lily O'Keefe was hit by a car on the Slane Road in Navan on Saturday, February 21st. 

She was just a few minutes away from her home when it happened, and according to the GoFundMe page, the driver did not stop. 

Mia Lily suffered "catastrophic injuries" before passing away in hospital and her "beloved dog," Bowie, also died.

"She was only 16 years old and had her whole life ahead of her. She leaves behind her heartbroken Mam Louise, Dad Stephen, her sister Katelyn, and her brothers Kai, Zack and Cole, along with so many friends and loved ones who are devastated by her loss," the GoFundMe page states.

The money raised woll be used to help ease the financial burden her family now faces. 

At the moment, €29,527 of the €55,000 goal has been raised.

"Every donation and every share means more than words can say. If you're unablle to donate, feel free to share," the post says.
