DPD suspends deliveries across Ireland amid ongoing fuel protest chaos on roads

DPD has announced that it is suspended all deliveries in the Republic of Ireland on Saturday amid the ongoing fuel protests and blockades on roads around the country.

The fuel protests has seen farmers, hauliers and contractors take to the streets in their vehicles, blocking motorways and other major routes in a bid to force the government to reduce petrol and diesel prices.

Given the upheaval, DPD says it was taken the decision to halt deliveries on Saturday.

In a statement, they said: "Due to ongoing fuel protests, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend our services in the Republic of Ireland on Saturday, April 11.

"We understand this may cause inconvenience and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Our team is working hard to resume normal service as quickly as possible."

Major services all over the country have been affected by the protests with blockades at ports and fuel depots. Fuel forecourts all over the country have reported running out of diesel in recent days.
