Interview: Nerney reflects on a memorable couple of months

Its hard to argue against any Laois GAA player male or female having a more enjoyable 2022 than the Timahoe corner forward Mo Nerney. A goal in an all-Ireland final, golden boot award, Laois LGFA player of the year. TG4 intermediate player of the year are just some of the achievements that have made Nerneys year quite a special one. This week she sat down with the Leinster Express/Laois Live to reflect on a remarkable 12 months.

Mo first spoke about that wonderful goal she scored in the All-Ireland final. A goal that came at a vital time for the O'Moore ladies.

"It was an amazing feeling, Up until that point, the game was not going well for me personally. I had kicked a few wides you know, So the goal came at the right time. It was a really well worked goal, Ellen Healy caught the ball in midfiled and laid it off to Aisling. the ball got worked then to Ava Galvin who popped it off to me. It was just amazing to score a goal in croke park and have the Laois support behind us." More below tweet.

Mo spoke about how it was so wonderful to be able to give the youth of Laois some fantastic moments and memories over the past couple of months.

"We went around to plenty of schools and clubs and the cup has been kept busy. Its living its best life, out every night of the week. It's great to see, A lot of the youngsters in Laois would have had no experience of Laois winning anything. Its something that hopefully the youth of Laois will have great memories of for many years to come. Even thinking back to the homecoming and the open night before the final, it was fantastic to see so many young kids at them.
