Women steal €900 of underwear and perfume from Laois shop

Gardai are also investigating the theft of clothing, electronic goods, alcohol and a garden ornament in Portlaoise

Gardaí said two women stole €900 worth of underwear and perfume from a shop in Laois. 

The incident occurred at Shaws in Portlaoise on Tuesday, February 17. 

Gardaí said the two women went into Shaws and stole “various perfumes and underwear” valued at €900. One of the women has since been arrested and charged. Gardaí said they are following a definite line of enquiry in relation to the second suspect. 

Meanwhile, Gardaí investigating the theft of €351 worth of clothing from Lifestyle Sports in Portlaoise on Thursday, February 19 have arrested and charged a woman. The woman was also arrested and charged in connection with the theft of €211 worth of goods from Intersport Elverys in Portlaoise on the same date. 

Gardaí arrested and charged a woman after beauty products valued at €83 were stolen from Laois Pharmacy on Saturday, February 21. Gardai said a second suspect has been identified in relation to the theft.  

Gardaí in Portlaoise are also investigating the theft of three power banks valued at  €140 from Tesco in Laois Shopping Centre in Portlaoise. The incident occurred at 11.50am on Thursday, February 19.

Elsewhere, Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry in relation to the theft of bottles of wine from Mulhall’s Supervalu, Lyster Square, Portlaoise. Gardaí said a woman stole three bottles of wine valued at €24 from the shop on Friday, February 20 and a woman entered the same shop and stole two bottles of wine valued at €16 on Saturday, February 21. 

Portlaoise Gardaí are also appealing for information in relation to the theft of a garden ornament from outside a house in Carmody Square, Fairgreen. Gardaí said a flowerpot stand with bumblebee decorations was stolen from a garden between 12 midnight at 10am on Thursday, February 20.
