Gardai say an uninsured learner driver was caught driving at 157kph on the motorway in Laois.
Learner drivers are not permitted to drive on the motorway where the top speed limit is 120kph. They are also not allowed to drive unaccompanied and must display L-Plates.
“Laois Roads Policing Unit on patrol earlier today on M7 detected this vehicle speeding at 157km in a 120km zone. The driver was a learner permit holder driving while unaccompanied and without L-Plates displayed,” Gardai said.
“The vehicle was also found to be uninsured. Vehicle seized. Fixed Charge Notice issued and court proceedings commenced,” Gardai added.
