Parking bays for people with disabilities are top spec and very welcome in Stradbally, according to county councillor.

Cllr Paschal McEvoy praised Laois County Council for its work in the village in responding to an appeal raised in 2021.

Mr Philip McVeigh, Senior Executive Engineer, issued a progress to councillors recently in which he confirmed that a new wheelchair parking space had installed outside the Health Centre on the Main Street. He said a wheelchair parking space had also been installed outside the Church also on the Main Street.

"They are top spec...They have gone down extremely well," said the Fianna Fáil councillor.

He especially complimented the council for work done at the Health Centre which he said at one point was impossible to park outside due to an high kerb.

Cllr McEvoy said he had sought the parking bays in 2021 so was pleased that they are now in place.

The issue was raised at the recent Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District meeting.
