There is a new Hockey Club on the block in Laois with the creation of the Laois Hockey Club. The club has been created due to the amalgamation of the Portlaoise Ladies Hockey Club and the Abbeyleix Hockey Club.
The aim of the club is to encourage, promote and develop hockey within the county. The new club will cater all players in Laois from 6 years of age right up to senior level under the umbrella of one club.
The newly formed club comes at a vital time as the sport of hockey continues to grow in popularity thanks to the international success of the Irish Ladies team in recent years.
The establishment of Laois Hockey Club now provides a clear pathway for underage hockey players to grow and develop into senior hockey players within the one club.
