Portarlington's Shane Ryan continued his good form after Wednesday’s 100m Freestyle Irish Record. The National Centre Dublin swimmer was one of only three swimmers under 23 seconds in the 50m Backstroke heats on Thursday morning, clocking 22.98. The 30-year-old was second in his heat and goes into Thursday evening’s semi-final as the third seed.
Commenting on the race Ryan said, "I think that’s my best morning swim, especially after all day yesterday, so happy with that and we just try and progress on and just have fun. I’m still nervous, that’s why I love the sport."
Ryan will be back in the water at 4.57pm on Thursday to compete in a Male 50m Backstroke semi-final.
